Living a Charmed Life in Purcellville VA

Living a Charmed Life in Purcellville VA. The adorable town of Purcellville was settled in 1764. Named after prominent businessman Valentine Purcell. Just imagine what Purcellville was like in the frontier times! You still get all the “PIONEER” feels downtown, including a renovated grain mill turned restaurant and a former Buick dealership turned whiskey distillery The W&OD Trail, built on the bed of the former Washington & Old Dominion railway line, ends in downtown, adjacent to the now restored Purcellville Train Station, bringing in cyclists from across the region.

There are activities for all ages in western Loudoun County. Some of the hot spots to bring the kids are The Tipped Cow, next to Monk’s BBQ, Gruto’s on Main Street and everyone's favorite roller skating rink Bush Tabernacle which still looks exactly like it did in the 1950s.

Of course Loudoun is known for wine but one of its rare gems is Catoctin Creek Distilling Company. Owners Becky and Scott Harris founded the first Loudoun distillery since Prohibition in 2009 and Becky Harris is the most recognizable female whisky maker in America today. Buy bottles of brandy, gin and flagship Roundstone Rye on the premises and try a craft sampler cocktail at the horseshoe-shaped bar.

Ask Carmen @LoudounThrift and I am sure she will agree that Purcellville has amazing thrift stores! The heart of downtown has several thrift and antique stores including Re-Love It,It’s Bazaar, Nostalgia Boutique, Blue Ridge Hospice Thrift Shop are just a few of my favorites. You will have to check it out for yourself one of these fall days.

Housing in Purcellville is also spectacular. Nestled among the rolling hills just north of Downtown Purcellville sits Touchstone Farms (adjacent to the actual Touchstone Horse Farm) bordered by trees with beautiful mountain views. Coming to the market November 1st is a stunning single family home built by Evergreene Home Builders in 2021. Stately and welcoming, this 4BR/3.5 bath Barrett 3 model includes a 2 car side load garage, James Hardie cement siding, morning room, gourmet farm kitchen, first floor study, and 3800 square feet on the top 2 levels. All this for a mere $1.2M price tag. Make sure to check this home out before it’s gone!

And don’t forget the location is amazing! Touchstone Farms is just 2 miles from downtown Purcellville and has quick, easy access to Route 7 and The Dulles Greenway. Shopping, dining and entertainment are just moments away in the lovely town of Purcellville, and Historic Leesburg.
