Families Flee Cities and “Boom Towns” is the New Home. Many people feel like they have struck gold having permanently moved to a vacation town or “boomtown” during the pandemic but what are Boom Towns? Have you taken a vacation lately and thought to yourself, I would love to live here? Well , so have millions of other Americans during this pandemic. Thus the creation of a “Boom” town just like back in the old West. Yep, people are striking gold again, but not with nuggets but with more space, privacy and a deeper connection to nature.

Housing markets that are booming as a result of the remote work environment that are within proximity to Northern Virginia are Lake Anna, Historic Winchester, Smith Mountain Lake near Roanoke.

Some of the most popular states that have seen a  resurgence in new residents beginning in 2020 are Martha’s Vineyard, Butte Montana, Lewisburg Tennessee.

If you aren’t thinking about packing up and moving westward, then how does this even apply to you? Well a positive by-product of folks moving out of the city centers is the easing of housing costs and availability of housing for 1st time home buyers looking to jump into the market            ( insert reference). This also has an effect on the median home price buyer ( median home prices are $590k in our area ) who could see prices soften just slightly too.

This all may be wishful thinking but I know my buyers want to see some changes in the market that will favor them a little more than we are seeing now.

I know I will be keeping my eye on the market to see the shift happening in real time. I feel like I am working 10x harder now to find good opportunities for my buyers and am in tune with even the slightest shifts.
